Councillor Patrick Haycock: "Not only have the Government neglected to notice that Long Marston is partially in (the Wychavon) district, but they have shown a blatant disregard for the planning process and we will continue to be vocal in our opposition to this proposal."
Councillor Izzi Seccombe: “My fear is that a new town, on Stratford’s doorstep, with a population up to 20,000, would turn the area into one big commuter belt.”
Councillor Mike Brain: “A new ‘eco-town’ two-thirds the size of Stratford-upon-Avon, housing around 20,000 residents, will devastate this world-famous historic town. There simply isn’t the appropriate infrastructure to cope with a development of this size.”
Councillor Les Topham: "The district council has made its intentions clear not to support the proposed development and the district council is very unhappy to have developments like this imposed on us by the government."
Councillor Paul Middlebrough: “As far as I can see the only ‘eco’ here is the ‘eco’- nomy with the truth. In my opinion an eco-town in this location will destroy the environment and community cohesion.”
