Whilst regretting she shall be otherwise engaged on the day, Dame Judi Dench, a long-standing supporter of the BARD Campaign, sends her best wishes to campaigners for the walk:

"I am so sorry not to be walking with you on Sunday but I have a matinee performance that afternoon in London.

"I am sure the day will be full of fun and activity, but never forget that there is an underlying serious message that I hope is heard more widely - local people care about their environment and know what development is needed and where. Turning beautiful and historic Stratford into a commuter rat-run would be an unforgivable legacy.

"Thank you for your commitment to this cause. You have my total support and I hope you all take pride in every step you take. Save our beloved Stratford!"

Meeting at the Stratford end of the Greenway at 11am (off Seven Meadows Road), campaigners will stroll or cycle down the Greenway to Milcote Railway Café. There will be an Easter Egg hunt for children en route, as well as a Quiz for adults. Refreshments and prizes will be available at the Railway Café.

David Bliss, BARD Campaign Chairman said:

"We have all had a year of uncertainty and confusion since the Government announced Long Marston as a potential site for an eco-town. Since then the whole eco-town programme has been widely criticised by industry experts and environmental assessors alike.

"We are determined that as many local people as possible should show Government what's at stake here - not least the loss of the Greenway as we know and love it. We urge everyone who cares to support the cause and join the walk on Sunday."
